"Wolf" (Korean: 늑대와 미녀; simplified Chinese: 狼与美女; traditional Chinese: 狼與美女) is a song recorded by South Korean-Chineseboy band Exo. Available in both Korean and Mandarin, the song was digitally released on June 3, 2013 under the label of S.M. Entertainment. "Wolf" was also chosen to be promoted as the lead single from the Korean and Mandarin versions of group's first studio album XOXO.
"Wolf" was composed by Will Simms, Nermin Harambasic from Dsign Music and S.M. Entertainment resident songwriter Kenzie. Kenzie also provided the lyrics for the Korean version of the song while Zhou Weijie penned the lyrics for the Mandarin Chinese version. A demo version of the song was leaked in February 2013, in response to which producer Ryan Jhun later gave a 'warning' to the illegal downloaders on May 29, 2013. "...I will report it to FBI and service department for all links..." Jhun expressed in frustration.[1] A representative from S.M. Entertainment also commented regarding the promotions that "...Exo-K and Exo-M will be joining to become Exo to promote as they go back and forth between Korea and China...".[2] Despite the leak, an estimated of 300,000 copies of the physical format of the group's first studio album XOXO were revealed to be pre-ordered, as revealed by the agency on May 30, 2013.[3] Moreover, Yoo Young-jin also participates in this song as a background vocalist. The dance routine for "Wolf" was choreographed by Tony Testa.[4]
